Arc Tangent

The Arc Tangent block returns the arctangent, or inverse tangent, of a number, in degrees. The arctangent of n is the angle for which n is the tangent.

The following properties of the Arc Tangent block can take input and give output.

• input (number)
• x (number)

input defines the tangent to get the angle for. When x is set, input is the y-coordinate of a point.

x specifies the x-coordinate of a point. The default is 1. When x is set, the block returns the angle between the positive x-axis and the point (x, input), from −180 to 180 degrees. This lets you find the angle in any quadrant. If x is null, the block returns the arctangent of input, from −90 to 90 degrees.

The following property of the Arc Tangent block can give output but cannot take input.

• output (number)

output returns the arctangent of the input, in degrees.

The following image shows an example of the Arc Tangent block. In this example, the tangent is 1, and the arctangent is 45 degrees.
